Legacy Lives Here

MARCH 2026

Principal Black's Corner

Hello Wildcat Families,

There is a distinct energy on campus as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer! It is officially one of the busiest and most exciting times of the school year.

First, I want to extend a huge welcome to our spring sports season! Whether on the track, the field, or the court, our student-athletes have been practicing hard, and we are so excited to see their growth and teamwork in action. We hope to see many of you in the stands cheering them on this season.

While we are all looking forward to the well-deserved Spring Break (coming up from April 6-10), it is more important than ever that we keep our momentum going.

As we approach our Spring Testing Schedule, we want to ensure every Wildcat feels confident and prepared. To reach that goal, consistent daily attendance is vital. Every day in the classroom provides essential instruction and support that cannot be replaced. We encourage our students to enjoy the excitement of the season while staying focused on their academic goals and showing up ready to learn every single day.

From awards ceremonies to end-of-year performances, our calendar is quickly filling up with wonderful events. We are so proud of the progress our students have made so far, and we can’t wait to celebrate their achievements with you as we head toward the finish line.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for making this such a vibrant school community.

With Wildcat Pride,

Karen Black
Principal
Great Bridge High School

Safety Reminders

Administrators will notify parents within 24 hours of a planned lockdown drill. Our schools conduct lockdown drills in accordance with state mandated intervals during both structured (classroom instruction) and unstructured times (lunch and hallway transition times). In addition, our schools conduct fire drills in accordance with state mandated requirements. An informational poster is on display in each classroom identifying primary and secondary exits to ensure safe and swift evacuation of students and staff in the event of a fire emergency.

Personal Cellular Device (PCD)

During the instructional day, any personal communication devices are expected to be turned off and away. This means that these devices should not be kept on the person or on the clothing of students during the school day. This expectation applies to ALL instructional, administrative, medical, or health-related settings including, but not limited to: classrooms, hallways, libraries, cafeterias, auditoriums, gymnasiums, locker rooms, administrative offices, and clinics. Please
note that this policy has been updated to include ALL spaces, and cell phones/ devices will NOT be permitted before school or during lunches in the Cafeteria.

Attendance Matters

Students are expected to attend school daily for their scheduled courses, and attendance will be taken daily.

Please note that students who miss more than NINE days in a semester course will not receive credit for the
course.

Dress Code Policy

Finding that balance between "spring fashion" and "school appropriate" can be a challenge! To help our Wildcats stay focused on their studies while staying comfortable in the warmer weather, here is a quick refresher on our dress code:

Keep it Covered: Please ensure that shirts provide full coverage of the torso (no crop tops or muscle tees) and that shorts and skirts (no shorter than mid thigh) are of an appropriate length for a professional learning environment.

Headwear & Hoods: Once inside the building, we ask that students remove hats and keep hoods down. This helps us maintain a clear line of sight and enhances school security.

Footwear for Fun: With PE and outdoor activities increasing, safe, closed-toe shoes are always the best bet for active Wildcats!

Our goal is to keep the focus on the amazing learning happening in our classrooms. We appreciate your support in helping your student choose outfits that are both stylish and school-ready!
